The Freedom III vessel is a stable and comfortable 58 foot catamaran (previously owned by world renowned documentary producer Ben Cropp) with 360 degree whale viewing on all 3 levels plus a water level viewing area to get you as close to these magnificent creatures as possible.
This 6 hours starts 9:30am daily, including include courtesy transfer from your Hervey Bay accommodation venue, morning & afternoon tea and a delicious tropical buffet lunch so you don’t have to worry about a thing!

Cruise the sheltered waters of Hervey Bay to the Great Sandy Marine Park which is renowned as the playground for visiting humpback whales as they migrate south to the Antarctic waters. Expert commentary from your skipper will educate and inform you about the unique aspects of whale watching in Platypus Bay which is formed by Fraser Island and the mainland. Hervey Bay is world renown and recognised as the first accredited Whale Heritage Site by the World Cteacean Alliance.
Freedom Whale Watch is also Eco Accredited. We operate in an environmentally friendly way to ensure both the safety of our marine creatures as well as our guests. Please feel free to bring your reusable coffee cup for hot or cold drinks. We have a water filling station with fresh filtered water available all day
Morning tea is served on the journey out and consists of hot scones jam and cream and profiteroles. Tea, coffee and filtered water is available all day.
Your delicious plated lunch is served while watching whales play near the boat. It consists of a warm bread roll, 2 cold meats, hot chicken wings, 3 salads: coleslaw, potato salad & green salad.
Several pods of whales will often be seen as well dolphins, turtles and sea birds.
Fabulous views of Fraser Island’s western beaches provide a wonderful background to your tour. Afternoon tea of fresh fruit platters and cheese platters are served on the return journey.
